Garnet Class (Year 2)
Hello. My name is Miss Harrison and I am the class teacher for Garnet class.
Garnet class is a Year 2 class. We work very closely with Emerald (Y1/2) and Diamond (Y1) classes.
Other adults you may see in our classroom are: Mrs Stewart, Miss Finney and Mrs Dunys.
Look at our wonderful writing on display outside our classroom. We are very proud of it!

This half term, we have been looking at the poem 'Owl and the Pussycat'. So far, we have read the poem and created text maps to help us remember it. Stay tuned for photos of our own versions of this poem with our own nonsense ideas....
After our Poetry work, we will moving on to our Fiction story... I wonder what the story will be?

Marvelous Maths
This half term, we have been learning about the place value of numbers. They have used practical resources to explore the value of each digit. They understand the mathematical vocabulary of tens and ones. We have explored partitioning numbers in different ways. Later in the term we will be using our place value knowledge to add and subtract two digit numbers.
In science, we are learning about the human body focusing on the senses. We will also learning about sensory impairment and the life of Helen Keller. What do you know about her?
In PSHE, we have begun to think about 'Being me in my world'. Creating our class charter and making our classroom a safe and happy place for us to learn. Our school values are important to help us to respect each other and help everyone feel they belong and are cared for.
In art, we are learning about colours. What are warm and cool colours? How do artists use colour?
