Pearl Class
Welcome to Year 4
My name is Mrs Robertson and I am the teacher in Pearl Class.
We are also very lucky to have Mrs Waggott and Mrs Credland working alongside us in class as well. Miss Dickinson also covers sometimes.
This page will include information about our class and also about our current learning.
This half term, our Art topic we are finishing our 'Monuments of Ancient Rome', in addition to doing embroidery and needlework. In Geography we will be learning about 'Japan', our History topic is 'The Stuarts' and we will be learning about the 'Rocks' in Science, later in the term we will be learning about 'Forces'.
We will be using the 'The Wreck of the Zanzibar' by Michael Morpurgo as our core text in half term 1 to help us to write our own historical fiction.
This term, we have Doncaster Rovers coaches taking our PE sessions on a Friday morning. Our other PE day will be on Tuesdays.
Pearl class visited Murton Park to learn about the Vikings. We had a fantastic day.
During this term we will be visiting Woolsthorpe Hall.
Weekly Homework
Reading - If pupils read 3 times a week (and this is signed in their reading records), they will receive a recognition sticker.
Spellings - Every Monday, pupils are sent home with spellings to practise for the spelling tests the following Monday. It is really important that spellings are practised so they can make progress.
Times Tables - To enable children to progress within Maths, it is essential that they can recall their times tables up to 12 x 12. Weekly practice, using our times tables mats, will help children to improve their recall. The websites below have a range of games that can support children with this:

Don't forget to play on Times Tables Rockstars!
We will be having frequent times tables battles as the year progresses.
