Design Technology
During our Design Technology lessons at Dunsville Primary, we aim to engage and inspire our children by keeping our lessons practical. We teach Design Technology by following the 'design, make and evaluate' structure to our lessons. During the designing stage, the children require creativity and problem solving skills to design a product that meets the brief. From this initial planning and designing, the children are then able to make a usable product using a range of skills. Following this, the children will look back on their product and think about the positives and the areas for development. They will be able to make links and comparisons to their original design and assess whether the product is suitable for its purpose.
In our Design Technology lessons, we aim to use a wide variety of skills including textiles, food, mechanisms, structures and electrical systems.
We also try to link our Design Technology lessons to our geography, history or science lessons and use cross-curricular links wherever possible.
